Football Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Affair

In a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos clinched a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the late decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.

Dominant Performance Wins Game

Even with registering nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following giving up a two-point play in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards during the contest.

Nix, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with just over five minutes left.

Historic Difficulties for Jets Attack

Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets still had possession with a chance to score a possible victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when head coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.

The Jets quarterback had difficulties all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any game since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach stated after the contest.
