Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced using tailored sessions made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but while the majority merely grant skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining twelve from the forty-one primary weapons found within the game.

A number of these gated guns might eventually earn a place on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash via Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and functions solely at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Mission

One more community participant brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at those extended distances.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and maybe an additional option in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

But when tackling the tasks in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for completing them in a custom game so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

For now, the player base continues to express their views on these strenuous battlefield assignments, anticipating a fairer overall gameplay in future updates.
